Most of us are not new to updating our phones. One of the reason we update or upgrade our phones is to get a better performance. If you were to take your phone to an engineer for upgrade, you will be charged nothing less than N500. But with my below steps or guide, you can easily upgrade your phone from the comfort of your homes and remember we are talking about Upgrade Nokia Phones.
Guide to Upgrade your Nokia Phone
1. Backup your data: This is crucial; before you start doing anything you need to backup your phone so as not to lose important files.
2. Charge the Battery: This is very important. Ensure your battery is charged full before starting the update process because if along the way you run out of battery/power you might damage your phone such that it may not power on again.
3. Download Nokia Software Updater: Download and Install the Nokia Software Updater HERE. This piece of software will guide you through the whole update process. You might need to unblock it in your firewall.
4. Launch the Nokia Software Updater: It's really simple, just follow the guide and you'll be fine. The whole updating process takes several minutes to complete, don't try to cancel it in the middle in any case, you risk damaging your phone. In my case it took about 15 minutes to complete and in some cases it can take over an hour to complete. USB cable is needed.
5. Restore your Backup: If you used a memory card for backup, simply go to the Tools > Memory > Options > Restore from card. If you used Nokia PC Suite to Backup, you will have to connect your phone to the pc via USB cable, select Backup and Restore Now you have your phone loaded with the newest software. If you experienced some problems with your phone performance before the update process should fix it. So go on and check it out.
To make sure your phone is really updated type *#0000# in your home screen and check the software version.
