Instagram comes to BlackBerry via iGrann and BlackGram

After months of having to go through the “pain” (I exaggerate obviously) of side loading the android port of instagram, today you have not one but two options to get instagram running natively on your BlackBerry 10 device.

BlackGram is built from the ground up as a native BlackBerry 10 app and uses cloud servers much like instance on Windows Phone to bring you full access to instagram’s service.

BlackGam’s features include:
*.Account creation
*.Profile picture change
*.Full browsing: followers, following, liked.
*.Search users and tags
*.Like, unlike, comment, follow and unfollow
*.Select a picture from your albums or take a photo with the camera
*.Edit the image with the integrated editor and native filters
*.Original Instagram filters (server-side) iGrann is also a native BlackBerry 10 app but unlike BlackGram, it gain’s access to the instagram service by reverse engineering one of the services APIs.

iGrann also integrates deeply with BlackBerry 10 giving you access to some of the BlackBerry’s native features from within the app.

With iGrann you can:
*.Register an account
*.Browse your feed
*.Browse Photos & Videos
*.Upload Photos
*.Apply native filters to photos
*.Apply native frames to photos
*.Like and Unlike Photos & Videos
*.Comment Photos & Videos
*.Explore Popular Photos & Videos
*.Browse Profiles
*.Follow and Unfollow Users
*.Search Users
*.Search Hashtags
*.View News
*.ReGrann Photos
*.Share Photos
*.And much much more…What you can not currently do with iGrann, but will be implemented in a future release:
*.Upload Videos
*.Receive notifications Because its server-based, BlackGram is a paid app, to keep up with server costs, it also means there is a slight delay when you post pictures using instagram filters because they have to be processed server side.

iGrann on the other hand is free but as of right now, is only available as a limited public beta with a few features like profiles disabled while the kinks are being worked out.

If you want to try them out, you will find BlackGram on BlackBerry World for $3.99 and you can download the iGrann beta for side load here. (here is how to side load just in case you are lost). While you at it, you should follow Jeffbankstegrity on Instagram for some cool stuff.

Update: The BlackGram developers have apparently disabled downloads right now, and are upgrading their servers to cope with the huge number of requests they have gotten in the past few hours. It should be available for download again soon.
