Google has just let us know via a blog post that they have added 5 new languages to their Google translate service. The new languages include Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo, the three languages outside (English) spoken predominantly in Nigeria as well as Zulu and Somali.
*.Hausa (Harshen Hausa), spoken in Nigeria and neighboring countries with 35 million native speakers
*.Igbo (Asụsụ Igbo) spoken in Nigeria with 25 million native speakers*.Yoruba (èdè Yorùbá) spoken in Nigeria and neighbouring countries with 28 million native speakers
*.Somali (Af-Soomaali) spoken in Somalia and other countries around the Horn of Africa with 17 million native speakers
*.Zulu (isiZulu) spoken in South Africa and other south-western African countries with 10 million native speakers
The new languages are live as I type this, so you can go ahead and translate text or speech with the service which you can access via web, or via the apps on iOS and android.
