Thousands of samba dancers took to the streets for the opening night of the annual carnival celebrations wearing just body paint, feathers, glitter on the streets of Sao Paulo for the opening of the country’s wild carnival festivities.

The carnival’s nudé display is considered an “act of farewell to the pleasures of the flesh,” before Lent period during which Christians are supposed to abstain from bodily pleasures.
