The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, said on Thursday in Kaduna that politicians should forget about planning to snatch ballot boxes in the 2015 general elections.
He added that the political parties de-registered by the commission, would not longer be registered.
Besides, the INEC boss said the commission alone could not conduct the 2015 general elections, stressing the need for collaboration with politicians and other relevant stakeholders for free and credible polls.
Jega, who spoke at the closing ceremony of a four-day retreat for INEC’s commissioners, said the new digitalised system would render such act invalid, noting that any politician with such wishful dreams should perish it.
He said henceforth, every polling booth would have a specialised digital number and all voting cards for that particular station would carry the digital number.
This, he noted would make ballot box snatching difficult for politicians.
